bird unit

We've been studying birds recently. What kinds are likely to be around here, in our back yard, near lakes, etc. I made a coloring book for Billy from http://www.coloring.ws/birds5.htm. We've colored a few of the 20 pages together [too many for this 5 year old], and I have written some things he has learned [dictation style] about a few of them...

Then it was too cool that for his birthday, Billy got some bird-related building opportunities. So one rainy spring day, we built a bird feeder :) And he started watching with binoculars right away; only to be disappointed for 2-3 days that no birds were feeding. The cardinals have been back every day since, if it has feed in it :)
