I don't know why, besides wanting to assert his independence, make things difficult, or just enjoy the texture of foods as they enter into his mouth, but William has recently become a messy eater. 
He has to push the food around in his mouth and on his hand before allowing it to be swallowed. It's so gross, but I'm sure once we get to finger food he will reach a whole new level of messy!

Yeah, that really doesn't look or sound *that* messy to me. Perspective changes a lot of thing though. Your son is very photogenic. My son rarely smiles for the camera and always has his eyes closed.
